Margaret Smart opened her agency in 1978. After 4 subsequent owners and in 1996 we, Gavin and Rish Lennie and our daughter, Melanie Gordon purchased the business. Our team is a wonderful, small family-run business.

Our recently, revamped image together with a growing staff compliment has seen our company become a force to be reckoned with. We have managed to stay small enough to keep the atmosphere open and friendly and large enough to be competitive in all the areas of our industry.

We pride ourselves in our long-standing name. The personal service that goes into maintaining this name is of paramount importance to us.
Margaret Smart Estates has grown over the years to incorporate a Sales Division, Holiday Rentals, Long-term Rentals, Home Management, Property Management and Body Corporates, a Laundry called The Laundry Hut and a garden service called Smart Gardens.

Our "Rish-managed" Rental Department encompasses holiday lets and long leases and is what we have always been known for. She works closely with our housekeeper, Wendy, who, together with the cleaning staff and our maintenance contractors, does a fabulous job to ensure our homes are kept in impeccable condition.

Our sales team, which consists of property consultant Stephen Hammel and Nita Wilson in administration, has extensive knowledge of Plettenberg Bay as a whole and also of the available properties out there. We provide a comfortable and confidential encounter in your search for a new home.

Melanie holds the fort with the huge task of keeping all the accounts in order and is a fantastic back-up to the whole office. We actually call her
“The Boss”.

And then there is Gavin, our rose among the thorns, who will stop at nothing to make sure the job is done to the absolute best it could possibly be.
He is always the first to volunteer to go the extra mile and makes sure that no-one is left unhappy. He also manages our Body Corporates in a most professional manner.
